Making A Purchase

Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.

We accept Credit Card payments from Visa and Mastercard, most Debit Card payments including Switch and Maestro and we can also accept payments via PayPal. As well as ordering on-line you may, if you wish, provide credit card payment details by telephone. We also accept payments by Cheque.

When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.

Shipping And Handling

We deliver within the UK only. Delivery is free on all orders above £60.00 and our delivery charge for all orders below £60.00 is calculated by weight and costed at Royal Mail rates plus £1.00 for packing materials. We attempt to be environmentally friendly by using recycled cardboard boxes and our polystyrene packing chips are usually biodegradable/water soluble.

Delivery Schedule

We aim to dispatch your order as soon as possible, usually within 2 days. For delivery we offer our customers a choice of Royal Mail First Class (transit time 1 - 2 days), or Royal Mail Standard Parcel service (transit time 3 - 5 days) or Parcelforce 24 Express (transit time 1 - 2 days). Transit times stated are those normally expected but not guaranteed.

Back Orders

If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.

Tax Charges

We are not registered for VAT purposes and our prices are therefore as stated and VAT is not applicable.

Credit Card Security

When the order is placed at our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption and passed directly to HSBC. They are only decrypted after they reach HSBC, these details are never held on any of our computer systems.

We do allow credit card orders to be taken by telephone, in these cases credit card details taken are destroyed immediately after payment has been taken.

The Candlelight Company do not disclose buyers' information to third parties other than when order details are processed as part of the order fulfilment. In this case, the third party will not disclose any of the details to any other third party.

We do not hold security sensitive credit card information on our computer.

How is your personal data kept safe?
Your details are held in the website software which is password-protected and kept on a password-protected computer. Connection to the internet is also secured by password.

What is your data used for?
Your data is only used for the processing and dispatching of your orders placed with us. Your data is not used for any marketing purposes by us nor is it shared with any other businesses for the purposes of marketing. The Candlelight Company ceased sending marketing emails in 2014 and we have no intention of changing this policy at this time. Should our position change we will notify you at that time to give you the opportunity to 'opt-in'.

Does The Candlelight Company have a right to hold your data?
The Candlelight Company holds the data about you as listed above. The purpose of holding your data is only to make the process of creating repeat orders much simpler and faster for you.

Who can see your data?
The only people who have access to your data are the proprietor of The Candlelight Company, the credit card payment agency (Sellerdeck Payments) and the shipping agencies used in the processing of your order which are Despatch Bay, Parcelforce or Royal Mail.
The Candlelight Company are as careful as possible to make sure no one else has access to your data and it is not shared with any other business or organisations apart from those listed here.

How long will your data be kept?
Your details will be kept as long as you are happy for The Candlelight Company to store it. At any time you can tell us that you are withdrawing consent. If you do that, we will remove your details from our website database.
